Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson

Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson is an Icelandic actor, former Strongman competitor, and current professional strongman. He is best known for his role as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in the HBO television series Game of Thrones.

Born in Reykjavik, Iceland

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson was born on November 26, 1988, in Reykjavik, Iceland. His parents are Guðrún vera Sigmundsdóttir, a costume designer, and Hafþór Júlíus Sigurðsson, an actor and former competitive strongman. He has four siblings: two brothers, Þorbjörn and Sigurður, and two sisters, Huldabjörg Rakel and Hrefna Björk. Growing up, Hafþór showed great interest in sports and music. He played basketball for the Icelandic youth team until he suffered a serious ankle injury at age 16. He then began to focus on his music career playing guitar and singing in a band called Plainride.

Stature

Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson is an Icelandic professional strongman and actor. He is the first person to have won the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man and World’s Strongest Man in the same calendar year. In 2018, he set a worl record for the log lift in raw competition by lifting 216 kg (476 lb). In May 2020, he set another world record for the husafell stone lift, carrying a 64 kg (141 lb) stone for five steps.

Björnsson stands 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) tall and competes in strongman competitions heavyweight division, which has no upper weight limit. He was largely Unknown outside Iceland until he took part in the fifth season of the HBO television series Game of Thrones, where he plays Gregor Clegane, better known as “The Mountain”.

Apart from his work on Game of Thrones, Hafþór has appeared in a number of other films and TV series. Notable credits include playing the role of Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in the 2015 film Hercules, and appearing as Strongman Magnús ver Magnússon in the 2016 episode “The Good Heels” of The Legend of Tarzan.

Ian Whyte

Ian Whyte is a British actor, basketball player, and former professional wrestler. He is best known for his roles as the giant cannibal “Bbum” in the 2010 British horror film The Descent: Part 2, and as the White Walker leader “The Night King” in the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Born in Bangor, Wales

Ian Whyte (born 15 February 1971) is a Welsh actor, stuntman, and basketball player. He is best known for his roles as the Predator in the 2010 film Predators, the super-soldier Davies in Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, and as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Whyte was born in Bangor, Wales. He stands 7 feet 1 inch (2.16 m) tall, making him one of the tallest actors in the world. He has played numerous roles which require his height, such as Basketball players and aliens. He is sometimes credited as “Ian Whyte Williamson”.

Stature

Towered above most of the other actors on set, Whyte had to duck to get through doorways, and the Bridges family home in Winterfell had to be specially adapted for him. He was so big and tall that the production team had to build a custom-made bed for his scenes. In season four, his costume weighed around 40 kilograms (90 lb) and required four people to help him put it on.

In addition to his work on Game of Thrones, Whyte has had roles in a number of films and television series. He played the titular character in the 2010 UK mini-series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. That same year, he also played Interpol Agent Balfour in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. In 2011, he portrayed wildling Euron Greyjoy in two episodes of HBO’s fantasy series Game of Thrones, then took over the role of Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane from Conan Stevens and Ian Watkins for the show’s second and third seasons. In 2012, he playedOne in Prometheus. He reprised his role as The Mountain in the fourth season of Game of Thrones.

Conan Stevens

On the HBO television series Game of Thrones, the Mountain is a title held by Gregor Clegane, the older brother of Sandor Clegane, who is a feared warrior and an immensely strong and large man. When they were children, Gregor held his brother’s face against a hot forge, giving him the facial scars that would later earn him the nickname “The Hound”.

Stevens was born in Brisbane, Australia. of Dutch and English descent. He left home at age 16 and traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific Islands before eventually settling in England. He began his career as a professional wrestler in 1997.

The following year, he had a small role in the independent horror film 13 Eerie. In 2014, Stevens had a guest role in an episode of the Canadian comedy series Murdoch Mysteries. He also had a role in the Syfy original movie Sharknado 2: The Second One.
