The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1922 andwell into the 1950s. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeauand George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-professional teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, this sequence of teams went undefeated 12–0–1 as a part of what then became known as football’s first ever perfect season before losing in 1921.
The Packers have won 13 league championships (most recently Super Bowl XLV), more than any other NFL team, with nine pre–Super Bowl NFL titles and four Super Bowl victories.
