The Last Game Of Thrones Episode Aired On May 19, 2019
The eighth and final season of the fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones, produced by HBO, premiered on April 14, 2019, and concluded on May 19, 2019. The series is adapted for television by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is based on the series of fantasy novels A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin. The season consists of six episodes.
The final season depicts the culmination of the series’ two-decade-long story arc, depicting the Great War against the army of the dead that threatened to end humanity’s reign on Westeros. The first half of the season deals with the aftermath of the destruction of King’s Landing at Daenerys Targaryen’s hands after Cersei Lannister’s scheming manipulations led to Missandei’s execution, as well as Jon Snow’s discovery that he is in fact Aegon Targaryen, Daenerys’ nephew and rightful heir to the Iron Throne. The second half follows an all-out war between the living and dead as several main characters make their bids for power; Jon Snow tries to warn everyone about the impending arrival of the White Walkers; Bran Stark uses his position as Three-Eyed Raven to provide information that may save Westeros; Daenerys struggles with whether she will be able to rule justly as queen or if she will become her father’s MAD daughter; while Arya Stark sets out to kill everybody on her death list including Cersei Lannister.
The Show Ran For 8 Seasons
The showrunners have said that they knew the broad strokes of where they wanted the series to end from the very beginning. “We talked about it a lot over the years and we had a very specific feel for what we wanted it to be,” David Benioff told Variety in an interview shortly after the series finale aired. “It had to be both unexpected and Fitting.”
“We wanted to find a way to make people feel that was the most satisfying way possible,” D.B. Weiss added. “There are a lot of ways to end a show where people are like, ‘Oh, wow, that’s awesome.’ But is it alsoearned and shocking?”
The duo also spoke about how they didn’t want the ending of the series to be “predictable.” “We did not want to box ourselves in with something that would hang over us for years if it didn’t turn out being as satisfying as it should be,” Benioff said.
The ending may have been a long time coming, but that doesn’t mean that it was easy for the show’s cast and crew to say goodbye. “It was very emotional,” Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow on the series, told Variety. “I think for all of us, it took a while for it to sink in, what we’d done.”

The Show Received A Lot Of Criticism For Its Final Season
The final season of Game of Thrones was one of the most talked about TV events in recent memory. For a show that had such a loyal and passionate fanbase, it’s no surprise that the ending was so divisive.
The final season of Game of Thrones was plagued by problems from the very beginning. The show’s creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, had to condense the storylines of what would have been two full seasons into just six episodes. This meant that many important plot points and character arcs were either rushed or completely forgotten about.
The pacing wasn’t the only issue with the final season. Many fans were also unhappy with the way certain characters were treated.Daenerys Targaryen, who had been built up as the show’s main protagonist for seven seasons, suddenly turned into a Mad Queen who burned down an entire city just because she was upset. This didn’t make sense for her character and many fans felt like she deserved a better ending.
Another controversial moment came in the show’s penultimate episode when Jaime Lannister, who had been one of the most morally gray characters on the show, suddenly decided to abandon his sister/lover Cersei and ride off into the sunset with Brienne of Tarth. Again, this didn’t make sense for Jaime’s character and many fans felt like he deserved a better ending as well.
The final episode itself was also very controversial. The showrunners made the decision to have Bran Stark be elected as King of Westeros despite him having zero personality and being basically irrelevant to the entire story. This felt like a cop-out to many fans who were hoping for a more satisfying ending to such an iconic show.
Even though the final season was met with a lot of criticism, it seems like most people have now moved on from it. The show is still beloved by many and will always be remembered as one of the greatest TV shows ever made
