Swords of Legends Online has a pretty solid launch, and the game is only going to get better from here. Players can expect to see new features added to the game with each update, such as the release of the “Battle Pass” system in early 2018. With this system, players will be able to earn various rewards for performing certain in-game feats, such as defeating bosses or reaching certain milestones. The game’s roadmap for 2018 will also be expanded, with an impending “big update,” which will introduce new end-game content such as a new “Arena” and “Challenge” system.
“You can never have too many friends, and that’s especially true when you’re fighting the undead. Swords of Legends Online (SOLO), a free-to-play action role-playing game set in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world, will throw you into a world of adventure as you follow the story of the three friends, Rith, Rachid, and Rafi, who have a score to settle with the undead, and will be battling them to the finish.”
The near-future of multiplayer online games is one that features an ever-evolving landscape of free content that keeps players coming back for more. Today, nearly every game with a post-release plan utilizes some form of “battle pass” system, a way for players to spend real money to progress faster through the game and unlock new content more quickly. Some battle passes consist of purely cosmetic items for players to unlock, while others may include more tangible in-game benefits. This feature isn’t just a way to keep players invested in the game, but a way to keep them spending money with the hope that they’ll be paid back with new in-game items.
If you missed Gameforge’s Swords of Legends Online stream yesterday, you missed some important announcements that the aspiring gaming community is looking forward to, including a roadmap for the first few months after launch on the 9th. July.
According to the roadmap, Gameforge will hold a summer event after launch, launch the first season of Battle Pass, and reveal new raids such as Xuanjiu Jade Palace, Waves in the Storm, and Huaijiu Horror. After that, players can expect Nuo Ruins and Ice World raids, a fall event and battle pass for the second season, and a challenge pass for Xuanjiu Jade Palace between September and the end of the year. We will continue to update SOLO regularly to bring new content, promises a slide from the studio. Expect new events and challenging raid modes. Expect new dungeons (visually, not just in terms of difficulty) later this year.
As for the new classes, the developers note that the first new class only appeared a year and a half after its launch in China. Gameforge is hoping for a much higher speed, but they don’t expect that for the first six months.
Finally, there will be two types of battle pass: free and paid. Everything looks purely cosmetic or is accessible in other ways. So for now, Gameforge seems to be meeting its goal of not having to pay to win.
