Hi, my name is [Your Name] and I am a writer here at Splitgate HQ. We wrote a blog post about SplitGate’s newly announced cross-platform support a few days ago and that got me thinking about all the people who were interested in it, but couldn’t delve in because they didn’t know a lot about SplitGate, its history, the game itself and its development. So, I decided to write this post to expand the initial post, and hopefully help people who don’t know a lot about SplitGate to take a look at it.
Splitgate is a free multiplayer first person shooter that pits players against each other in a war to control one of six factions. The game is currently available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Mac. On July 12th, Splitgate will be released on the Nintendo Wii, and the Wii U will get Splitgate on Oct. 4th 2013.
On February 24th, Steam announced an open beta of Splitgate Cross-Platform Support, which allows PC users to play Splitgate on both their PC and on their HTC Vive. The announcement was made alongside the release of the game on the Oculus Store, which makes Splitgate the only VR title to be playable on both Oculus- and Vive-compatible platforms.
Splitgate, a free-to-play first-person shooter, is in the limelight these days after the open beta’s debut drew a huge influx of new players, resulting in a slew of server problems. Even if matchmaking isn’t accessible, it’s essential to know whether crossplay is included, and if you can utilize cross-platform compatibility to challenge your pals regardless of whether they’re on console or PC.
Splitgate would only benefit from cross-platform compatibility as a multi-platform multiplayer game. Although it isn’t a problem right now, one of the biggest difficulties for multiplayer games is keeping a consistent playerbase, and crossplay would certainly increase the number of people that may participate in a match.
It’s fortunate, therefore, that Splitgate has cross-platform compatibility, even if it’s still in beta. Indeed, developer 1047 Games intends to test this feature before to the game’s August release.
According to the game’s Steam website, fans will be able to “play with or against your pals across various consoles and PCs” in the complete edition of Splitgate.
This may be an additional step that helps Splitgate establish itself as a major name in the multiplayer FPS arena, as long as the current server problems are resolved. If you haven’t had a chance to play the game yet, the open beta period has been extended until the game’s new release date next month.
