I wonder how many of you have been keeping an eye on the Path of Exile website lately, waiting for the announcement of the upcoming release. The release date on the website, as of now, is August the 30th, but this could change. I believe a better estimate would be the 30th of September. This is the version number that we will see, after the 1.0.5 patch.

The Path of Exile team has been working non-stop on the upcoming expansion, The Awakening, and they say the improvements they have made to the core of the game have already paid off in dividends. This new expansion will feature many new features such as the introduction of a new passive skill tree, new end-game maps, and new monster types, and the developers have discussed the new content at length in a recent webinar. However, don’t expect to be able to try out the new content just yet. The expansion will be released before the end of February.

This is it. After months of speculation and careful planning, the time has come, and we can now reveal the final details of the Path of Exile expedition.

It won’t be long until the Expedition League and its slew of changes – all of which were vigorously defended by GGG’s Chris Wilson – go live with Path of Exile’s Expedition expansion, so players should be ready. Grinding Gear Games has gone to great efforts to explain everything that will be available to PC and platform gamers when the update goes live.

The update will be available for PC players today, July 23rd, at 4:00 p.m. EDT, and for console players on Wednesday, July 28th, at 8:00 p.m. EDT. On Steam or the game’s client, the update is approximately 8GB in size, but a 25GB torrent version of the update is also accessible for PC users to download if they want. Players are also directed to character slot sales and tools to assist them in forming groups, according to the article. Meanwhile, the servers for the PC version are presently offline for maintenance.

On the topic of those adjustments, we previously noted that the early patch notes for the update sparked outrage among players across social media (and even in our own comments), who complained about the update’s alleged use of the nerf bat to make the game less enjoyable. This led Wilson to write the previously mentioned article, in which he spent almost 2,000 words defending GGG’s reasoning, claiming that the changes are mainly intended to fight power creep.
