Arma is a military sim shooter franchise originally released by Bohemia Interactive in 2001. The series has seen many new installments, but the developers have been silent for years. In December of 2018, an early access version of Arma Reforger was announced with the release date still to be determined. Here’s what you need to know about this exciting game and its future potential!。

Arma Reforger is a military sim shooter that was released to early access on September 12, 2018. The game is the first new installment in years and has been highly anticipated by fans.

We don’t discuss about the Arma series on our blog very much, despite the fact that it’s on our radar. The Bohemia Interactive mil sim shooter series has been around since 2006, and the most recent installment, Arma III, has a devoted and active community of gamers and modders. Even yet, many fans were probably wondering whether the third game would be the series’ last.

That is not the case, as Bohemia Interactive announced on Twitch yesterday Arma Reforger, a fresh step forward for the shooter that went into early access on PC through its own launcher, Steam, and Xbox Game Preview, marking the first time the game has ever gone console.

Reforger is basically a test bed for the in-development Arma 4, utilising a new Enfusion game engine that will be used in the next sequel while bringing players back to Everon, a 512 square kilometer island set during the Cold War from the game’s original incarnation, Operation Flashpoint.

Above and beyond a visual revamp, Reforger includes cross-platform play for PC and Xbox, access to mod material for Xbox players through an in-game Workbench toolkit, and simplified tools for both on-the-ground players and those generating and commanding situations in real-time via the Zeus feature. More customisation was also praised during the livestream, with players being able to take on a variety of jobs on the battlefield, including infantry, fire support, radio operator, and logistics.

Early access is scheduled to last for a year at most, according to the game’s Steam website, with fresh features including new guns, artillery, and gadgets slated to be introduced during development. When Reforger’s early access period ends and Arma 4 is released, the official site refers to it as a “independently playable experience,” a FAQ section refers to it as a separate game, and an interview with the game’s project lead discusses the progress toward a 1.0 release, implying that this title will remain playable even after Arma 4 is released, though that same FAQ also states that purchasing Reforger does not grant access to Arma 4. Bohemia Interactive, incidentally, considers the “path to Arma 4” to be a lengthy one.

There’s a lot to take in here, so fans should either read the news or watch the videos below.
